FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the best way to get in touch with the shop for an appointment or questions?  You can get in touch with our team by sending a DM to our shop Instagram (showoffinkartistry), emailing us with your inquiry (showoffinkartistry@gmail.com), or calling the shop directly at 203-553-4011. We will get back to you as soon as we are able! Keep in mind our shop hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM to 5PM. You can also send us a request through the form on our website.

How much will my tattoo cost?
Our artists don't charge by the piece, our artists charge hourly. Most of our artists charge $180 hourly. For small pieces that take significantly less than an hour, our shop minimum is $100. Keep in mind that when you make your tattoo appointment we will have you leave a deposit that will go towards the total of your tattoo.

Does your shop do piercings?  Unfortunately our shop does not have a piercer. When you register a tattoo shop on Google it appears as both a tattoo and a piercing shop, however we only do tattoos.

Can I pick the artist that I want to work with?  We understand that some people have an artist they they have in mind for their piece, and we will do our best to set you up with the artist you like. However, it is best to set you up with the artist that is best suited for your project.

Does the shop tattoo minors?  In Connecticut, it is illegal to tattoo anyone under 16. Minors aged 16 or 17 can get a tattoo with parental consent, which requires the parent or legal guardian to be present and provide written, informed consent. Both the minor and the parent/guardian will need to provide proper identification, such as a photo ID for both the minor and the guardian and the minor's birth certificate.

I just got my tattoo, how do I take care of it?  If you got a tattoo and have a second skin bandage on the tattoo you will keep the bandage on for 24 hours and then slowly remove the second skin under running water. After the bandage is off you will clean the tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap, and then Aquaphor ointment 2-3 times a day for the first 3-5 days and then afterwards you can switch to an unscented lotion such as CeraVe or Eucerin. If you have any questions or concerns about the healing process you can always call or message the shop and our artists will be happy to help you.

I made my appointment but I need to reschedule, can I do that?
We do allow for you to reschedule your appointment, however you must reach out 48 hours before your appointment in order to maintain your deposit. You can only reschedule once where we can maintain the deposit, any rescheduling after the first one will require you to leave another deposit. We require a deposit in order to book an appointment. Please see our deposit policy page for full details.

How long do I have to wait before doing the touch ups? Well it all depends on the size of the tattoo, the complexity of the design, and how gently the work has healed.  If you experience long healing times (more than two weeks) or noticeable shinny-ness on the healed tattoo it is very likely that you will need touch ups.  Allow time for the skin to settle down to a more normal condition before having your touch ups (1-5 months, but no more than 6 months). â€‹â€‹â€‹
